Created by the country’s leading speed performance coaches, sports scientists and tested by elite and youth athletes, the Universal Speed Rating (USR) is a standardized speed rating score that is calculated by a proprietary algorithm. The digital platform (universalspeedrating.com) gives coaches, athletes and fans a trusted resource for speed performance.

Hyperspace Ventures collaborated with Spellman Performance and other speed thought leaders who believe speed is a skill and see the value of a platform for all things related to speed performance. Together we created a platform that can be used to dive deep into technology to provide data and programming solutions for athletes and coaches who are looking to individualize their speed performance. The platform offers a way for athletes to TEST their speed at multiple locations, ANALYZE data in beautiful visualizations to gain deeper insight and finally IMPROVE speed by being assigned to a personalized program through our algorithm. Currently, the platform offers a freemium version as well as a paid subscription with access to all its programs. After being launched less than a year ago we have seen its user base grow to over 10,000+ athletes and offerings tripled without any paid marketing.

The secret sauce to their growth? Customer-centric and iterative development. From day one the USR team has focused on building a product that connects with the users, is simple to use and offers customers the exact solution that they need. We went through multiple rounds of alpha and beta tests with the leaders of Spellman Performance, coaches, athletes and sports scientists.  USR chose a path to fast development of the product with its core offerings and then continuously improved the platform by collecting feedback. The best part of collaborating with USR is that the team is not afraid to take risks and are fast at pivoting when required. This year the USR contributed 20% to the company’ revenue, 13% more than the projected number for H1 2022!

USR is currently in the process of building its next big release. We will soon launch USR Community, a feature through which Coaches and Trainers can build their own communities and support athletes to grow together as a group.
